2006 Bedside Movies

"Indian Night"

Tiffany, Elvis, and I hosted "Indian Night" at my place on June 28th where we cooked savory homemade Indian food for the guests.  Dang, it was tasty and a good time.

"Microsoft Hardware Software Team"

This is where I work.  I shot some footage a while back and finally got around to editing it together.

Cascade Adventures 2006 Trailer

I've had a hard time keeping up with videos so I decided to make a little trailer that shows highlights from adventures this summer.  I'll have the real movies up...sometime.  Enjoy!  Music:  Verdi Requiem - "Dies Irae"

Paganini Violin Concerto no. 1

I love Paganini's concertos but they are damn hard.  Here's me on the guitar playing the opening theme of the 3rd movement Rondo.  As of this video, I've transcribed 90% of the concerto and learned maybe half of it.

Bruch Violin Concerto no. 1 in g minor

My all-time favorite violin concerto is available for other guitarists ready and eager to delve into a new world of amazing licks with potential to entertain and dazzle for many years.  Exciting stuff!  Download the tab of the opening moments of this concerto, which this short movie showcases.

  Winter Flying over the Cascades

Here's a video of the North Cascades from the air in the winter of 2005.  This is the most alpine scenery you'll see in the lower 48 states.  I'm simply posting it a little late, which is why it appears in the 2006 section.  The music is Mozart's "Linz" symphony.

Forbidden Peak, East Ridge Direct, III, 5.8

A climb of the east ridge direct of Forbidden Peaks is a magnificent alpine romp. This video depicts a dayclimb of the classic route by Ari, Daniel, Mark, and me. Music is Beethoven's Pastorale Symphony. Notice how long I delay the end of the movie just so you can enjoy the sublime melody of the final movement of the symphony, one of the best. Check out the violin line over the cello melody. Oh yeah, and there's great footage of the crux pitch too!

  Overnight on the Tooth

Here's a music video of an afternoon climb of the Tooth, sleeping on the summit, rappelling down early the following morning, and heading back in to work. The music is the first movement of Prokofiev's "Classical" Symphony.

  Eldorado Peak

Aidan and I climbed Eldorado Peak in mid June as one of the first climbs of the year. We'd assumed it was easy, but had forgotten how out of shape we were and how steep the approach was. We had bigger designs to climb other peaks while up there, but ran out of steam. At least we got some footage of the classic summit. Dang, it was hot!

  Cruiser is no Cruise

I'd long wanted to climb Mount Cruiser. It's a weird rocky little horn in the Olympics that gets few climbs. Robert and I snuck in and dayclimbed it from the short, and brushy, side. Not recommended from this side! But Robert's hearty spirit was not broken by the awful descent; mine was.

  The Bugaboos

Aidan and I took a late trip to the Bugaboos in September. What a great place! Tons of high quality climbs and breathtaking scenery. We climbed Pigeon and Bugaboo then got chased off by bad weather (and tired muscles). Enjoy!
